The first World–War, the first so–called „modern war“, hit like an explosion on modernism in fine arts and literature of the budding 20th century.
This total war could no longer be shown in a heroic, patriotic realism, it had to be transposed into a different shape, color and language.
The artistic modernism found new means of designing the senselessness and destruction of this war and thus decisively influenced the development of art, design and creation.
For us, as for any visual artist, it is an important and exciting challenge to deal with this „seminal catastrophe of the 20th century“,its reception and its impact on our contemporary iconography and perception..
